Long time needed update

January 12th, 2015 at 06:07 am

Wow, I didn't post almost for year. Reading back it seems we didn't do any progress, but instead slid even in more bigger debt. While debt on car went down (paid $3500 in principal), credit card/personal debt went up for $1200, emergency fund left with $140 only. This is disaster. While I know, where things went wrong, I really need my husband be on the same side every month, every week, every day, not just when money is tight. What should I do?

I read your posts that you put up last year, it looks like you really had some hard times, sorry to hear it. Sometimes the only way you can get anywhere is to be creative in how you get there and to really want to be in a better place. You came to this site so clearly you want more financial security. Are you able to maybe lower your fun stuff (vacation fund, Christmas fund, birthday fund) a little bit so you can have some savings too? You have $140 there, if you found $860 this year by the end it's $1000 and that's a start. Whenever you save money on something no matter how small can you send the savings over to credit card debt or EF? Sometimes you have to either spend less/downgrade or make more money. And there are so many places you can spend less. Bills. Food. Clothing. Entertainment. The list goes on. But whatever you do, you have to carefully watch your savings/debt, because 1) you want more savings & less debt and 2) when one of you is a saver and the other is a spender, the saver needs to be saving the money before the spender spends it Smile
